I know I stopped updating!

I guess I've been busy huh? It's been about 2 months since you've seen any action on here.. My bad! I've been working hard on my book "Creative Spaces." I have shot 60+ people so far. All different modern artists and writers. It's been quite the experience! I will have some updates very soon!

U.P.H.M.T.

What is U.P.H.M.T. ?? You gotta watch the video below to find out, but let me tell you a story first. At one point in my early photography career I thought I was going to be a wedding photographer. I bought all the right gear and started assisting a few wedding photographers as well. At the same time I was taking classes at this small community college and I met a man by the name of Jared Cicon. He taught me a lot of the do's and don'ts of the wedding business, mostly his don'ts.. like DON'T BE A WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER. I didn't. I couldn't. It wasn't my passion. Some people are born to be wedding photographers, I wasn't, Jared helped me figure that one out.

Jared is now a commercial director and no longer a wedding photographer. His commercials are some of the funniest things I've seen in a while. He also started making these quick wedding photographer tutorials. They're priceless. The first one is linked below. Go to his YouTube Page to check out the rest of his work.

Never Shout Never Photo Shoot

Another Best Of 2009 clip, this time with Chris Drew, otherwise known as Never Shout Never. This was shot in a parking lot in my assistant Mitchell Wojcik's car in Santa Monica. The whole shoot took about 45min, and I got one of my favorite shots of the year!

Favorite Photo Shoots of 2009

To ring in the New Year, I have put together a little video of my favorite shoots from 2009. Today is Evan Taubenfeld. This is every photo (875 to be exact) from my shoot with singer Evan Taubenfeld for his upcoming record. The shoot was just Me, Evan, and my assistant running around downtown LA looking for a fun place to shoot.

Remember The Prodigy?

I have a confession, I love dance music! Okay, not that fist pumping house kind of stuff, but give me some good drum and bass some dubstep or some 808 shit and I'm there! It's been a while since I've even stepped foot in a dance club, and it's a very strong possibility that you will never see me on a dance floor. But I still love to listen to a good dance groove. My gateway drug into the dance world was The Prodigy. Music For A Jilted Generation is still a top ten, and if you grew up in the '90's and didn't listen to Fat Of The Land at least a few times, you missed out. The one thing that always blew my mind about them were the crazy samples they used, that you never think you would hear on a dance floor. I came across a cool video by a Producer/DJ name Jim Pavloff who recreates The Prodigy's anthem Smack My Bitch up. He shows each sample and how they are used to create a whole new song.

Rage Against The Machine was a sample in Smack My Bitch Up? WHAT?

You gotta watch the video!

If you loved Up.. You need to watch this.

I would have to say one of my favorite movies of 2009 was Up. If the first 10 min of that film didn't have you in tears looking at your life and where your going, you just have no soul! If you have not seen Up, stop reading this and go watch it! NOW..

Now if you have seen the film, you'll love what remixer Pogo used noises, clips and bits of words from Up to make one crazy song. Go check out Pogo's youtube page here there are plenty of other songs like this, and if you hunt around you can find his very cool Alice In Wonderland track that Disney didn't seem to like very much.

Iron Man 2 Trailer

Hands down one of my top 5 favorite comic book movies of all time.. looks like Iron Man 2 could be up there as well! Who though Who ever thought you would  be excited about a movie staring Robert Downy Jr. and Mickey Rourke This trailer looks amazing!

I love my dog!!

If you know me, you know my dog April is my pride and joy! A few years ago I was away from home, sad and lonely and my wife sent me this video of April (the white dog in the video) playing with her friend Daisy.

I missed Jersey Shore

Everyone is talking about Jersey Shore, and what an amazing train wreck of a TV show it is. I've always found guidos quite fascination , but Mac Lethal buts his fascination to a beat. For a good laugh, you have to watch this video!

The King Blues Vs Byron

I was recently turned on to UK band The King Blues. I'll talk about them some other time, but I wanted to show you all this really cool clip King Blues recorded for the BBC to help promote poetry. Enjoy!

Sonic Boom Six

I've been a fan of Sonic Boom Six for quite a while now. Coming from the UK, the band is a unique blend of Ska, Regge, and Hip-Hop. I know that sounds bizzare and to the common listener, yes it is, but it works! SB6 are currently packed in a van driving around the US with Big D and the Kids table. The have a few shows left here on the west coast, you should really check them out if you get the chance. It's the one live show I've been excited about all month! If you can't make it out to the show, go find their new album "Temple of Thieves", it's a fun record that has yet to find a real home here in the US.

I Like This

I'm a fan of Mash Up, DJ Mixtapes and bad dance music, but never really seen a "VeeJay" mix that was well done.. until now.

It's all new..

It has been a while huh? I was talking to a friend today and he asked me "where is this new site you keep twittering about". My reply was "well, I have some big shoots coming up I want to wait until I can post those." His reply.. "You gonna let your clients hire someone else?." Those words cut like knifes. So here you go, a new web site, with lots of new photo for you to enjoy. There will a lot more new photos soon, so keep checking back.
